Naked women, naked men at the quarry pond. More and more people are discovering for themselves and their families that it is simply more practical and also healthier to do without swimwear. There is no sensible reason to wear clothes when bathing, other than consideration for people who refuse to do so for religious or ideological reasons. And there is certainly no reason to be ashamed of one's natural nakedness. It is therefore entirely appropriate to stand up for the right to be naked where it is reasonable and sensible to do so, or to point out where arbitrarily set taboos restrict this right.
The primary function of clothing is to protect us, e.g. from cold, wetness and other outside influences. When attempts are made to uniformise people with the help of clothing or to subject them to consumer constraints through the fashion specifications of the textile industry, critical reflection is called for. It is nonsensical to wear a swimming costume or trunks on warm summer days at the beach or in the open-air swimming pool, especially since bathing clothes can cause colds and kidney and bladder problems when wet. On the other hand, it is advisable to protect the skin from dangerous radiation with a sunscreen.
There is hardly a more beautiful experience of nature than walking naked on the seashore, your feet washed by the surf, feeling the warmth of the sun's rays and how a gentle wind pleasantly cools your skin, or lying naked in the warm sand, listening to the sound of the sea and forgetting time and space. One is at one with nature, has the feeling of merging with it and enjoys a breath of freedom.
